There are two kinds of unique metaphors in Li-Young Lee＇ s poetry. One is to analogize family members＇ corporeal parts to natural and inanimate objects; the other is to analogize natural entities to body parts or persons, particularly family members. Actually it is the past homeless life branded on his memory that causes him to deploy such metaphors, which reveals his effort to piece the flotsam of a lived life together to make it seem like one life, and poetry becomes the ideal space.%李立杨诗歌中有两类奇特的隐喻：一种是将家人（尤其是其肢体器官）比喻成自然界中的、无生命的物体；另一种是将自然界的动植物比喻成人，尤其是家人的肢体器官。李立杨的这两类隐喻其实是他幼年颠沛流离的生活在他心灵上留下的烙印，反映了他试图通过记忆将过去的生活碎片重新拼接成完整人生的一种努力，而诗歌即是他完成这一诉求的最好场所。
