侨批也叫番批, 专指闽南语地区的海外侨胞通过民间渠道寄给亲人的银款连带家书的特殊信件.通过"批"字的同音说、同义说、功能说来论证"批"与"信"不同音, 不同义, 其功能也不是支取银款的批子, 从侨批的发展历史和形式的特殊性两方面来说明"批"字的信件义来源于"批示、回批"这种词义的引申.%The overseas remittance, also named as Fanpi, is composed of family letters and money which the Minnan-dialect overseas Chinese sent to their families through private channels. This paper is an etymological study of the term"overseas remittance"in terms of its pronunciation, meaning, function, form and agency.
