In recent years, it's partly believed that in terms of discourse function, traditional grammar is of no significance to discourse reading, for it fails to do favor to the construction of discourse framework and the achievement of logic accor-dance as an organic part. However, by relating traditional grammar with discourse reading in theory, as well as protruding its function in reading practice, the thesis has illustrated that traditional grammar and discourse remains a close relationship ei-ther in theory or practice by enhancing and supplementing each other. And the flexible application of some rules in tradition-al grammar can also embody different rhetoric effects, thus achieving its discourse function. Consequently, the functional sig-nificance of traditional grammar in college discourse-reading has been re-evaluated. And accordingly, the teaching strategies concerned with it are set creatively under the guidance of discourse-function concept.%近十年来,有观点认为传统语法无法关照到语篇的框架架构与逻辑呼应,因而从功能性视角来看,它对于语篇阅读毫无助益可言,无法成为语篇的有机组成部分。从传统语法与语篇阅读的理论关联及在语篇阅读实践中的功能可见,传统语法与语篇无论在理论还是实践应用方面,始终保持着相互促进、相辅相承的紧密联系,传统语法规则的灵活运用,同样能够体现不同修辞效果,实现其语篇功能。因而,传统语法在大学英语语篇阅读中的功能地位应得到重估,其教学策略可在语篇功能意识的指导下得到创新。
