Zhang Daqian's Calligraphy is praised as " Daqian style" because of its strong individual feature, which is deeply influenced by the calligraphic practice of tablet studies in late Qing Dynasty and early Republic of China. The interest and charm of tablet studies calligraphy tallies with Zhang's passion. His learning of tablet studies calligraphy occurred in 1919, when he acknowledged Zeng Xi and Li Ruiqing as masters with rather complicated motives. He experienced three stages of tablet calligraphic studies : follow the example of Zeng and Li, imitate inscriptions on ancient bronzes and stone tablets of three dynasties (Xia, Shang and Zhou) and two Han dynasties (Western Hart and Eastern Han) and inscriptions of six dynasties and three Tang dynasties, form success, from " Daqian style" with peculiar characteristic on the basis of the Yihe Epitaph and Shimen Epitaph.%张大千书法因其强烈的个性特色被誉为"大千体","大千体"受清末民初碑学书法实践的深刻影响。碑学书法的意趣与大千情性契合。张大千接受碑学书法的影响当在拜师曾熙、李瑞清以后。其拜师曾熙、李瑞清学习书法,动因较复杂,且时间均在1919年。张大千研习碑学书法经历了三个阶段:直接取法曾李二师阶段;遍临"三代两汉金石文字,六朝三唐碑刻"阶段;由博及专,以《瘗鹤铭》、《石门铭》为基础形成独具特色的"大千体"阶段。
