The Shun Pao is one of the influential newspapers in modern Shanghai,with rich contents that reflected the social outlook and changing trends of Shanghai.Analysis and interpretation of the 1870s＇ Shun Pao shows that significant changes took place both in material and spiritual life in Shanghai＇s society at that time.Modern and tradition stuck to each other;backwardness and progress collide with each other.%《申报》是近代上海影响深远的中文报刊之一,它的内容丰富多彩,折射着上海社会的面貌和变化趋向。通过对19世纪70年代《申报》的分析和解读,可以发现当时上海社会的物质生活和精神生活发生的明显变化——现代与传统、落后与进步相互胶着,又相互碰撞。
