The importance of selection and configuration of ornamental gardening plant in the construction of new countryside was first introduced as well as the corresponding methods.Through investigating the selection and configuration of ornamental landscape plants in Sanpu Village,Hohhot City,it was found that there were some problems:① Blind introduction of foreign ornamental gardening plants;② Inadequate attention to ecological characteristics during the selection and configuration process;③ Simple configuration,lacking of well-spaced layers and even density;④ Colors changing slightly,less consideration and application of the environment changes formed by changing seasonal appearance of plants,the selection of flowering plants not well coordinating with whole environment in both space and time;⑤ Relatively younger seedlings and inadequate proportion of hardwood trees.In view of these problems,appropriate measures to rationally select and configure ornamental gardening plants in Sanpu Village were presented including scientific,efficient and rational selection and configuration,reproducing natural environment,protecting farmland,saving land,improving road greening system,integrating herbaceous and woody flowers.
