恶劣的自然环境和严酷的社会现实，迫使客家先人在保留中原正统儒释道信仰的同时，渴求众多神灵的庇佑。这一方面使客家地区的神明崇信异常丰富复杂，呈现为多神，乃至杂神崇拜的状况；另一方面，也使得客家的神明信仰具有更加强烈的世俗化倾向和功利性特点。通过对粤东梅县神明崇拜系统做一般描述和构成分析，讨论客家民众在追求神圣价值背景下的某种世俗意愿的表达，以及出于现实功利目的考虑对崇信偶像和拜祭活动的策略性运用，以引起人们对客家人精神特性和客家传统社会特质的深入思考。%The inclement natural environment and the harsh social reality compel the Hakka ancestors to not only keep the legitimate belief of Confucianism, Buddhism and Taoism in Central Plains Earth, but also desire for the blessing of other numerous gods at the same time. This circumstance, on one hand , causes the complexity of gods worship in Hakka region; on the other hand, it gives the Hakka people＇ s gods worship a feature of secularization and utilitarian in a high degree. By describing and analyzing the construction of gods worship system at Mei county in East Guangdong, the author discusses the Hakka People＇ s expression of secular purpose under the background of pursuing sacred value, and their strategic operation of gods worship activities in the purpose of utilitarian, in the hope that it can arouse the readers＇ thorough thinking of Hakka people＇ s spiritual features and the characteristic of traditional Hakka society.
