CHEN Lang is a famous opera writer in Qing dynasty. His opera creative themes mainly came from the ancient and historical novels, most of which described the historical stories, marriage and family and Ghosts. When developing the plot and shaping the characters, the writer focused on the performance of moral character and personality realm. She (he) thought and action, highlighted the virtue of loyalty on earth, good and loving vir-tue, shined ideal of human glory and noble personality. From that perspective, the author expressed the tradition-al themes with his own observation and understanding to the real society, focusing on characters’moral and spiri-tual realm, reflecting the individual meaning of life.
