The lithologic characteristics and engineering geological characteristics of red sandstone were taken as the starting point. The special mineral composition, structure and weathering characteristic of red sandstone on the influence of slope instability were studied. On this basis, the relationship between different water content and red sandstone softening, disintegration characteristics was analyzed. The red sandstone bedding slope sliding failure mechanism in Chang-Ji highway was explained and the safety coefficient was calculated in the form of a numerical example. It is concluded that the red sandstone bedding slope instability destruction is closely related with the engineering geology characteristics.%从红砂岩岩性特征和工程地质特征出发,研究了红砂岩的特殊矿物组成、结构构造、风化特征对坡体失稳的影响,分析了含水量对红砂岩软化及崩解特性的影响。对常吉高速公路中常见的红砂岩顺层边坡滑移破坏机理进行了阐释,并通过算例计算了其安全系数。研究显示红砂岩顺层边坡失稳破坏与其工程地质特性密切相关。
