Applying a self-made oxygen-controlled equipment, the respiratory ability, oxygen consumption and survival limit of turtles (Geoclemys reevesii ) were studied when turtles were submerged under water. It was showed that capability of turtles to tolerate low oxygen tensions was remarkably strong,without oxygen supply, turtles submerged in the water were survived until oxygen content below 1. 5 - 2. 0 mg/L; the maximum oxygen uptake was 0. 062 3 mg/min, whereas the minimum was 0. 000 8 mg/min and the average was 0. 024 5 mg/min; light had no significant effect on turtles' respiration and aquatic oxygen content (T1 =0. 887 9,T2 = - 1. 359 9, P>0. 05);temperature induced highly significant effect (T, =-13. 697 2*** ,P<0. 001 and T2=3. 201 9* * , P<0. 01). The design of the experimental equipment could be further used in the research related with the respiratory metabolism and energy transfer of different aquatic animals.%采用自行设计的实验装置检测乌龟在限氧环境下的非肺呼吸能力、耗氧量和低氧耐受极限等.研究发现,乌龟抗缺氧环境的能力极强,直至水中溶氧量低于1.5~2.0 mg/L;乌龟单位时间耗氧量最高值是0.062 3 mg/min,最低是0.000 8 mg/min,平均为0.024 5 mg/min;光照与黑暗环境对水中的溶氧量和乌龟的呼吸影响无显著差异(T1 =0.887 9,T2=-1.359 9,P>0.05);温度对水中的溶氧量有高度显著的影响(T1=-13.697 2***,P<0.001)、对乌龟的呼吸有极显著的影响(T2 =3.201 9**,P<0.01).
