As the soul of local culture, theater culture has greatly advanced anti-colonial nationalist movement in the early 20th century＇s Philippine and promoted the formation of the Philippine nation. During the years of 70 ＇s and 80 ＇s, theater nationalist movement contributed great to the first ＂people power＂ national democratic movement against oppression in the Philippines. The drama this time expresses the national aspirations of political independence and cultural autonomy, and becomes a century symbol in the development of Philippine culture and also reveals many features of Philippine nationalism and cultural development.
