%Desire is an important theme running throughout the USA writer Roth’s novels.Based on moral and ethic system of modern society in the United States, his exploration of the traditional Jewish culture has left a mark on his heroes, which demonstrated a dynamic change in confusion, conflict and regression driven by desire that embodies in his masterpieces as “Kepesh novels ”,and “American trilogy ” ,and “The Counterlife”.First, the author reveals the spiritual depression and survival dilemma of the second generation of Jewish immigrants, then explores the cause of their lost national identity, and finally turns back to pursue the Jewish destination.Philip Roth deeply describes the psychological journey of America Jews for nearly half a century from multi-perspectives where the desire dominates the trend of character’s choice inwardly.
