艾青蛰居新宁期间创作了诸多既有田园情调又拖着忧郁尾巴的小诗，考查这些诗作的意象选择及应用是研究艾青诗歌的突破口。他既致力于诗歌意象的营造，又苦心于意象的组合；从诗歌意象系列的找寻到意象世界结构系统的营构，无不饱含着诗人浓厚的情感并充满了哲理性思考，这为艾青成为伟大的民族诗人奠定了基础。%While staying in Xinning ,Ai Qing created a lot of poems with pastoral sentiment and melan‐choly .All these poems succeeded in the choice of image which was the breakthrough of the research on Ai Qing's poems .Ai Qing not only worked for constructing the images of poetry ,but also managed to integrate them .He sought for the series of poetic images and built the structural system of images with his strong emotions and philosophical thinking .All these paved the way for Ai Qing to become a great national poet .
