In the background of"the Belt and Road", the strategic position of the western region will be fur-ther highlighted. The cities as growth poles of regional economic development, will be an important strategic node and opening new space vehicle under normal western future. Consequently, nurturing their ability for sus-tainable development is particularly important. In this paper, We tries to find a comprehensive evaluation system which can describe the ability of the urbanization sustainable development, in order to make a useful exploration for evaluating the sustainable development of urbanization in the western region of China as well as the sustain-able development of urbanization in China.%在国家"一带一路"战略背景下,西部地区的战略地位将进一步凸显. 而城市作为区域经济发展的增长极,无疑将是未来西部对外开放新常态下的重要战略节点与空间载体,其可持续发展能力的培育显得尤其重要.本文通过对西部地区城镇化可持续发展能力的实证评价,力图找到一个能够全面刻画这种综合实力的评价体系,以期为中国西部地区城镇化可持续发展乃至中国城镇化可持续发展的综合评价做出有益探索.
