In The Woman Warrior, Maxine Hong Kingston, the Chinese American female writer, constructs an ideal identity through the image of"an androgynous warrior"and"a singer of hybrid culture"by rewriting the traditional Chinese tales about Hua Mulan and Cai Wenji.
