唐传奇虽有虚构成分，却能在一定程度上反映当时的社会状况，具有补史、证史的作用。《聂隐娘》折射出魏博与唐庭的微妙关系、中唐暗杀之风盛行等史实。证诸历史，聂隐娘虽为故事主角，但真正推动情节发展的却是幕后主人公嘉诚公主：魏博屡次叛乱，朝廷无力对抗，遣嘉诚出降安抚，维持魏博和唐庭关系的平衡；嘉诚历经田绪、田季安两任魏博节度使，并在田季安继任中起到重大影响；嘉诚薨逝、田季安失控，也是导致隐娘弃魏投刘的重要原因。%Although Tang legends have imaginary components, they can reflect the social and historical life to some extent so that to prove and supply history. One of the famous Tang Legends, Nie Yinniang, reflects the relation between Wei Bo and the royal family of Tang Dynasty, and the prevalence of assassination in that time. There is no words about Princess Jiacheng in this legend, but she was proved to be the heroine in the backstage according to historical materials, which says Tang Dynasty was impossible to counter Wei Bo, so the royal family send Princess Jiacheng to balance the relations between Wei Bo and Tang Dynasty through marriage; Princess Jiacheng went through two governors in Wei Bo, and made an important impact on the succession of Tian Ji’an. It was when Princess Jiacheng died and Tian Ji’an get rid of the control that NieYinniang left Wei Bo to Chen Xu.
