彝族古代发明有文字，贵州的阿哲家族以世袭方式统治西部地区长达1474年，形成了独特的文化、制度。特殊的历史文化对贵州彝族文学发展有很大影响，构成了彝文文学、彝族文艺理论、家族文学、毕摩文学、碑刻文学的个性特征；民间口头文学早于文字文学、彝文文学早于汉文文学、文学作品早于文艺理论的发展规律。%Yi invented the word in ancient times, Azhe Clan dominated western Guizhou in hereditary way more than 1474,and formed unique culture, institutions.
