The status and role of hydropower as a clean energy and renewable energy in China's economic and social de-velopment and in the global energy conservation and emission reduction is discussed .The questions such as “China hy-dropower is overexploitation”,“hydropower development destroyed the ecological environment” are answered by apply-ing concrete facts .Hydropower development potentials and development direction in China are presented .%论述了水力发电作为清洁能源和可再生能源在中国经济社会的发展和全球节能减排中的地位和作用，用具体事实回答了“中国水电是否过度开发”、“水电开发破坏了生态环境”等问题，指出了中国水电能源的开发潜力和发展方向。
