Retinopathy of prematurity(ROP) has been recognized as an important cause of childhood blindness. The incidence of ROP has emerged attributed to increased survival of low birth weight infants. Vascular endothelial growth factor(VEGF) is important in the development of ROP. VEGF exerts its biological functions by its specific VEGF receptors(VEGFR).Therapies for treating ROP are being developed using inhibitors of VEGF to block retinal neovascularisation.%早产儿视网膜病变(ROP)是世界儿童致盲的主要原因,其发病率随着早产儿、低出生体重儿的存活率提高而明显增加.血管内皮生长因子(VEGF)在ROP的发病机制中发挥着重要作用.VEGF是通过它的特异性受体而发挥生物学效应.针对VEGF治疗ROP可能将会发展成有效的治疗手段之一.
