Drugs could affect the activity of CYP450 isoenzyme, which would influence drug safety and efficacy of the substrates of CYP450 isoenzyme. Desethylamiodarone, an in vivo metabolite of amiodarone, not only contributes to its therapeutic effect, at the same time, also plays great role in the side effects of amiodarone by influencing the CYP450 isoenzyme system.
