Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease and intestinal flora: a review of potential relationships

Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease(COPD)is a common lung disease,and lung inflammation is a consistent feature of COPD.As one of the three chronic diseases,COPD has the characteristics of high fatality rate and high invisibility.Moreover,COPD lacks effective treatment and prevention methods.At present,the influence of intestinal flora on the body is slowly being unearthed.Studies have shown that the intestinal flora is essential for the development of the body's immune system and resistance to pathogenic microbial infections.And this influence is inextricably linked with various major diseases.For respiratory diseases,the link between intestinal flora and COPD may be realized by the lung-gut axis.
