The author suggests to use Mei Flower(Prunus mume)and Tree Peony(Paeonia suffruticosa)as Double National Flowers for China. Having changed his opinion on selecting National Flower for People’s Republic of China, the author suggested a mode of using Double National Flowers since 1988, and insisted his opinion thereafter.Because of the vastness of Chinese territory, the significant superiority in her biodiversity,the two famous traditional flowers are mutually supplementary — Mei Flower blooms during winter to early spring, Tree Peony in late spring; Mei is a tree, and Tree Peony a shrub; Mei gives blossoms gracefully and with fragrance, Tree Peony with big and splendid flowers; Mei symbolizes hardiness and staunchness in facing adversity and evil, Tree Peony representing richness and splendour; Mei is mostly planted in the open space in central and mid-southern China, while Tree Peony commonly met in gardens and parks of North and Northwest China; Mei is the national flower during Kumintang’s government, while Tree Peony the national flower in late Qing Dynasty, etc.
