The composition of epoxy-based syntactic foams was introduced; types and developing status of hollow microballoons and matrix material as the components of syntactic foams were described. The approaches of the surface treatment of hollow microballoons were discussed as well as impact of the distribution of hollow microballoons in matrix on material performances.
