“夫妻偕隐”是从春秋战国以迄明清，都不绝如缕却又被主流遮蔽的事实。从接舆、于陵子、老莱子夫妇到梁鸿孟光、张愈蒲芝，再到朱盛藻、陆卿子、毕著、薛琼夫妇等，它由一个单纯的道德选择渐渐发展成文人情趣与高洁之志并重的生活方式，明清时更由真实的远离人寰简化为淡泊名利的生活态度。在这个关系中人们看到了清洁自守的隐士、志同道合的伴侣、思想自主的女性、情志优美的文学，丰富了“五四”以来对中国传统隐逸文化、家庭价值和女性形象的认识。%The so-called "retreating by couple" is a stream flowing from era of Spring and Autumn to the dynasties of Ming and Qing, which is a thread never being cut off while usually concealed by dominating culture of the society. From the couples of Chieh-yu, YU-lingtzu, and Lao-laitzu, to Liang-hung and Meng-kuang, Chang-yil and P'u-chih, and down to the couples of Chu-sbengtsao, Lu-ch'ingtzu, Pi-chu, Hsueh-ch'iung, and so on, this tradition had gradually been developed from a simply moral choice into a lift style emphasizing on both a interest of the letters and a noble ideal, and during the dynasties of Ming and Qing from an actual separation from secularity simplified into an mere attitude of plain living. In such a relationship we could find holy hermits, companionate couples, self-dependent females and beautiful emotion of literature, which supplies us a charming image to the understanding of Chinese traditional seclusion culture, family values, and the figures of women.
