The process of producing an anorectal manometer consisting of a balloon and a vibrating cylinder manometer under our design is presented in this paper. As the examination results vary with the methods used and the type of the probe in addition to individual variabilities, we made some improvement of the probe.As shown by the camparison tests between the vibrating cylinder manometer and the water column manometer, the latter turned out to be less sensitive and its quantitative reading was lower. Nevertheless, in qualitative examinations it is economical, simple and applicable. The vibrating cylinder manometer is a new-type manometer developed in the 1970s. The one we designed is sensitive, accurate and stable.
