Hemopexin ( Hx) as an acute phase plasma glycoprotein mainly expressing in liver , had been proven to show high binding affinity with free heme and play key roles of eliminating overloading free heme from circulation .Such process had been done to alleviate oxidative stress and tissue injuries by binding with free heme and then transferring into cells via specific receptors for degradation .Data from previous studies showed that abnormal Hx levels existed in the setting of seve-ral diseases .Nowadays , great progress had been made in such topic concerning about Hx and showed potential implementation in the treatment of cardiovascular related diseases , such as atherosclerosis , cerebral ischemic injury , and multiple sclerosis et al.Strategies aiming at Hx were confirmed to improve the prognosis of the animal models with the above diseases .So such pro-gress about the modulation of cardiovascular related diseases by Hx was summarized in this review .%血红素结合蛋白( Hx)是一种主要在肝脏中合成的血浆急性期糖蛋白,其与游离血红素具有高亲和力,介导循环中超载游离血红素的清除,该作用主要是通过与游离血红素形成复合物,经由特异性受体介导转入细胞降解而发挥抗氧化和减轻组织损伤的作用。研究表明,在多种疾病中Hx水平异常。特别是近年来,对于Hx的研究不断取得新的进展,极大展现出将其应用于心血管相关疾病治疗的临床潜力,诸如动脉粥样硬化、缺血性脑卒中、多发性硬化等,针对Hx的干预可显著改善上述疾病动物模型的预后。文章就Hx对心血管相关疾病的转归调控作用进行综述。
