Objective: To observe effects of creatine phosphate on cardiac function and plasma brain natriuretic pep-tide (BNP) in aged patients with heart failure. Methods: A total of 68 aged patients with multifactor heart failure were randomly divided into routine treatment group (received routine drug treatment) and creatine phosphate group (received creatine phosphate lg/d intravenous drip, once a day for 14d based on routine treatment). Clinical effects of the two groups were observed before and two weeks after treatment; changes of plasma concentrations of BNP and adverse drug reaction were observed. Results: After treatment, clinical symptoms of both groups improved, and total effective rate (94. 1% vs. 64. 7%) and marked effective rate (29. 4% vs. 14. 7%) of creatine phosphate group were significantly higher than those of routine treatment group
