This paper discusses the realities and prospect, both home and abroad, of major elec-tronic information materials, for microelectronic, photoelectron and other new electronic component. The recovery of global semiconductor industry in 2003 makes more than 90% of the world integrated circuit factories regain their momentum and increases the output ofpolysilicon and single crystal silicon by 8%. The demand of epitaxial wafer is also stimulated greatly, serving as the key material of IC and high frequency & microwave MMIC. The batch production of liquid crystal material,fibre material, laser and nonlinear materials promotes the development of electronic components and electronic communication industry. The new electronic component requires and promotes the devel-opment of green, nontoxic and environmental protection materials such as ceramic material, backing material for printed circuit board use and magnetic materialsE History proves that information material is the base on which information industry is built and guided. The next few years will be the years of the combination of both microelectronic and photo-electron technology, the introduction of solid material, microstructure material, organic/inorganic composite material and even nano materials.
