Mesenchymal to epithelial transition (MET) is referred to as a reversible conversion between "mesenchymal" and "epithelial" cell phenotype rather than different changes of specific cell lines. There is proof that in vivo and in vitro, MET plays an important role in the invasion and metastasis of malignant tumors.
