Objective To compare the treatment of the thoracic and lumbar compression fractures in the elderly patients using percutaneous balloon kyphoplasty and pedicle screw combined vertehroplasty. Methods From February 2006 to January 2011, 84 elderly patients with either the thoracic or lumbar compression fractures, or both, were treated in our hospital. All patients were associated with osteoporosis of the spine. The patients were randomly divided into group A (n - 42; treated with percutaneous balloon kyphoplasty) and B (n=42; treated with pedicle screw combined vertebroplasty). Alter surgery, patient's satisfaction, pain relief, and occurrence of complication were compared between the two groups. Results In group A, patient's satisfaction, pain relief, and occurrence of complication were all superior to those of group B. There was a significant difference between the groups (P < 0.05). Conclusion In the treatment of the thoracic and lumbar compression fractures in the elderly patients, percutaneous balloon kyphoplasty is superior to pedicle screw combined vertebroplasty. The former can result in superior outcomes.%目的 探讨球囊椎体成形术治疗老年骨质疏松胸腰椎椎体压缩性骨折的治疗效果.方法 随机选取2006年2月～2011年1月于内蒙古科技大学包头医学院第一附属医院进行治疗的84例老年骨质疏松椎体压缩性骨折患者为研究对象,将其随机分为A组(球囊椎体成形术组)42例和B组(椎弓根钉椎体成形术组)42例,后将两组患者的患者满意度、疼痛缓解情况、并发症发生情况进行统计及比较.结果 A组患者的患者满意度、疼痛缓解情况、并发症发生情况明显优于B组(P<0.05).结论 球囊椎体成形术治疗老年骨质疏松胸腰椎椎体压缩性骨折的治疗效果好,创伤小,值得临床推广应用.
