U.S. Public Law 94-142 (The Education For All Handicapped Children Act) requires that public education provide a wide range of services to handicapped children. The purpose of this research was to consider the effects of the Plainfield Public Schools' Preschool Program on parental attitudes towards special education. It was suggested that the impact of the preschool program influences parents' receptiveness to special education and other programs during subsequent years of public education. This research was done by individual questionnaires designed to identify the parents' level of satisfaction with their child's participation in the preschool program. Results indicated that parents rated the program as a satisfactory experience and were positively disposed to considering other special education or remedial programs. Further research could address the degree of involvement of these parents in regular education decisions for their non-special needs children.
