ARPES studies of the electronic band structure of high-temperature superconducting materials.

An angle-resolved photoemission study of the normal and superconducting states of two representative high-;The findings reveal extended van Hove singularities, never reported before, at binding energies smaller than 20 meV. The position of the singularities depends on the type of material and the level of doping. The profound consequences of these singularities for superconducting and normal state properties are discussed. Also it is found that the wavefunctions of the CuO;A total of 2000 spectra selected from a larger database is presented in order to describe the experimental electronic structure.
