摘要

Because current tutorial systems operate with a pre-determined sequence of instructional approaches targeted to student groups or types, they lack the ability to adapt to the individual student. ACTS is a low-level control for instructional strategies in tutorial systems operating with a new methodology which allows tutorial systems to adapt to students by generating unique sequences of responses for individual students. ACTS eliminates the limitations of pre-specified states and sequences, which prevent reachability to all possible states through the use of implicit derivation and dynamic computation. The main components of ACTS are a tutorial model, matrices containing control functions and the Analytic Hierarchy Process decision model. This research shows that ACTS has the ability to (1) generate complex actions as well as complex sequences of actions, (2) implicitly derive the control for minimum state pre-specification and complete state reachability, (3) tailor the sequencing to the student with strong and weak reasoning, and (4) allow multiple instructional approaches to co-exist and co-execute.
