This thesis details the design of a new automotive ventilation outlet using axiomatic design theory. Axiomatic design theory provides a simple, yet comprehensive approach to design. The implementation of this design theory led to the development of a rotor ventilation outlet featuring the ability to oscillate the air flow discharged from the vehicle ventilation system.;SDRC I-DEAS software was used to design and test the rotor outlet. The software was also used to create a rapid prototype of the rotor outlet using the stereolithography process. Air flow tests were conducted on the rotor outlet prototype to determine if the design parameters satisfied the functional requirements.;The combination of axiomatic design theory and modern computer design software provided the means to quickly and effectively design a new air conditioning ventilation outlet.
