摘要

This work describes photoelectrochemical and photocatalytic oxidation of organics in various matrices. In the first section, the computer simulations of the optimization of a dual photocatalytic system for the efficient detoxification of polluted water containing toxic organics and metal ions was studied. In the second section, the detoxification of Kwinana Lake water by the optimized photoelectrochemical and photocatalytic systems was studied. The semiconductive materials used in this study included n-type titanium dioxide and n-type iron (III) oxide both in bulk powder form and deposited in the form of a thin film electrode. In the third section, the oxidation of two antioxidants, vitamin C (1-ascorbic acid) and vitamin E (alpha-tocopherol), in the absence and in the presence of n-type titanium dioxide and n-type iron (III) oxide photocatalytic powders under ultraviolet and white light illuminations were studied.
