This study examined the possible effects of one-to-one digital technology in the Language Arts classroom on students' grades, motivation and participation. In order to ascertain if the computer had any effect on students' participation and grades, two writing projects were observed and evaluated to see if there were any changes. Technology has always been a part of the classroom from blackboards to televisions and it is believed that technology can enhance the lessons and allow the teacher to reach multiple students at once. Digital technology is the most recent technology being integrated into classrooms through various educational policies and is also predicted to transform classrooms while providing students with a 21st century education. The definition of literacy has also changed because of the use of digital technology. The new definition highlights the skills students should be taught in order to be successful using technology for both education and civil life.
