摘要

The purpose of this study was to identify the frequency that disability management (DM) practitioners used DM knowledge competencies in their daily practices and the frequency that DM practitioners used DM knowledge based on their method of learning DM (structured or unstructured). DM practitioners with "structured" training learned DM through attending the Certified Professional Disability Management (CPDM) training program or DM college courses. DM practitioners with "unstructured" training learned DM through on-the-job experiences, professional conferences, seminars, lectures, books, and professional journals.;Additional data analyses were performed to compare DM practitioners based on their current position (manager or service provider), work setting (internal or external), educational attainment, course of study, or professional affiliation. This study quantified the frequency that DM knowledge competencies were utilized by DM program managers and service providers.;Analyses of Variance (ANOVA) revealed some significant differences in DM practitioners' use of DM knowledge competencies based on their method of training and also some differences based on their work setting, current position, educational attainment, course of study, and professional affiliation. The variable professional affiliation had the most significant impact on practitioners' use of DM knowledge. Chi-square tests revealed no significant relationships between method of DM training and the variable course of study, professional affiliation, educational attainment, current position, or work setting.;The study concluded that there was no persuasive evidence to suggest that structured training methods were overall more impactful than unstructured training methods for increasing the frequency that DM practitioners used disability management knowledge competencies. On average, the DM practitioners of this study used DM knowledge weekly to monthly, to suggest that DM knowledge competency was necessary to carry out their current vocational responsibilities.
