摘要

Interactive instruction, being enhanced by the multimedia technology, has gained much attention and recognition as a new learning process. It differs dramatically from the traditional mode because it is a two-way, dynamic and self-controlled process that requires active input from the learner. This learning approach complies with the cognitive theory and is welcomed by most students. However there is not much literature discussing the design of interactive instruction in mathematics that differs significantly from the design of traditional instruction. This thesis, as a literature review, tries to serve the purpose of investigating the important elements in the design of interactive programs and how they make a difference in the teaching and learning of mathematics. Theoretical perspectives, design considerations, and issues encountered in the development of interactive mathematics program will be discussed and special attention is given to the implementation of the new medium and the realization of its potential.
