The purpose of this investigation is to examine the feasibility of implementing robust flight control algorithms into a real-time environment for distributed simulations. A benchmark research civil aircraft model on a landing approach trajectory was used as a benchmark plant model. Three robust control methodologies were implemented into the system for real-time simulation. A series of tests were derived to determine how effectively these controllers would operate in real-time. The results obtained include: comparisons between non-real-time and real-time, calculations of fixed step sizes, comparison of varying model distributions, and an overall comparison of each controller's performance. The major conclusion from this research revealed that it is possible to implement these methodologies into real-time. However, additional robust algorithms, need to be tested in similar fashion. A benchmark process for implementing robust models into real-time for simulation was developed as a guideline for future research.
