摘要

The purpose of this study was to identify teachers' perceptions and beliefs relating to parental involvement in their children's education. A qualitative case study method was used to gather and analyze the data provided by four middle school teachers from Changchun, Jilin Province, Peoples' Republic of China. After obtaining permission from the principal and consent to participate in the study from the teacher-participants, semi-structured interviews were conducted. In the interviews, teachers were asked to describe their perceptions and experiences relating to parent involvement. The interviews were audiotaped and transcribed. Participants proofread their transcripts to verify content and make deletions or additions for clarification prior to analysis. Following verification of the transcripts the data were analyzed, using the constant comparison method to identify common themes.; The study concludes with recommendations for action for various constituencies, as well as recommendations for future research.
