摘要

This thesis describes a non-linear finite element computer crash simulation using a compact passenger car with medium passenger car and a pickup truck at various speeds. These simulations are conducted under the New Car Assessment Program (NCAP) and according to the FMVSS regulations. The simulations are obtained using LS-DYNA3D motion finite element codes. A model validation part has been done in this thesis. For this validation a Moving Deformable Barrier (MDB) has been modeled in MSC/PATRAN. The MDB is given a initial particular velocity of 33.5mph as suggested FMVSS214 and it is simulated against the Geo-Metro car. And the results are compared with the standard sled test results conducted by the NHTSA.; The acceleration from various simulations is recorded at various points (accelerometer) in the compact car. As the vehicle intrusion posses a significant role in the occupant response, it has to be taken in to account. (Abstract shortened by UMI.)
