On the rock and by the well: Growing a new rural Haitian primary school.

In the urgency of building in developing countries, an area often overlooked by well-meaning organizations who can meet the urgent need for construction, is the long-term necessity of sustainability in architecture. Conventional building practices often reinforce dependency on international aid. Historically, Haiti has been trapped in a cycle of political and economic turmoil that has prevented it from reaching its potential for self-sufficiency. In the rural setting of Faugasse, Haiti, this thesis explores how to build up a new primary school in the hope of imagining a new cycle of learning and growing.; The thesis explores the question: How does a concise reading of the potential of rural Haiti question the conventional primary school building?
