摘要

The present study examined The Asian and Benton Facial Recognition Test's structural dimensions as well as associated perceptual abilities. This study sample is from an archival data set that consists of 163 neurologic, psychiatric, and mixed (co-morbid neurologic and psychiatric) patients from the VA Palo Alto Health Care System. A series of principal component analyses were conducted to examine how gender, image type, and nationality of the models in the photographs on the facial recognition tests affect one's performance.;When viewing a full face model in a full lighting condition on the AFRT and FRT, performance on facial recognition was defined by the gender and not nationality of the model. In the angular viewing condition of the models on the AFRT and FRT, performance on facial recognition was defined by the nationality of the model. When the photographs of models are taken under different lighting conditions (shadowed), performance on FRT images are defined by nationality of the model whereas performance on the AFRT shadowed images are defined by the gender of the model. The results of this study provide further knowledge of the structural dimensions and factors that influence facial recognition ability.
