Childhood Vaccinations: The Development of an Educational Manual.

The topic of childhood vaccines has become one of significant importance and controversy. With increasing numbers of vaccines added to the childhood vaccine schedule, parents are finding themselves questioning routine vaccines administered to their children. Additionally, conflicting data from medical professionals, scientific journals, and popular media have brought about controversies regarding the safety of vaccines.;There are few resources that take a neutral stance at educating parents about the importance of vaccines, while simultaneously illustrating the controversies and alternative vaccine methods that exist. For the purpose of this study, the development of a vaccination information manual was created to address parental concerns and assist in making informed decisions when approaching childhood vaccines. The Health Belief Model was used to explain the behavior involved in making these decisions. Experts in the field have determined that the educational manual created as part of this study is comprehensive, relevant, and a good resource for guiding parents through the childhood vaccination process.
