The purpose of this project thesis was to develop and pilot test a holistic enrichment program manual to be used with "Institutionalized Home Care Facilities" (IHCF) that encompasses motor skill, social, cognitive and self-enrichment outcomes. The enrichment manual is centered on the theoretical theory of Maslow's Hierarchy of Needs while integrating holistic care through training modules. In the needs analysis phase the researcher anticipated that the feedback from the focus group would assist in the development of the enrichment manual by focusing on the four areas of enrichment (motor skill, social, cognitive and self-enrichment) that reflect Maslow's needs. Open-ended questions were constructed to learn how Enrichment Directors' implement needs through programs, the researcher expected to find activities to aid in the enrichment manual development. During the project development phase the researcher used books, videos, web resources, and training manuals to investigate training, holistic care, and activities. After the completion of the manual the researcher followed up with a feedback focus group phase. The needs analysis phase consisted of four Enrichment Directors and the feedback focus group phase consisted of three Enrichment Directors. The results conclude that the enrichment manual centered on Maslow's Hierarchy of Needs is a solid foundation in the programs development in conjunction with holistic care training. Future research may include the residents' feedback regarding the application of the enrichment manual.
