This thesis involves the development of a software program to simulate radar imagery of isotropic power scattering centers using 2-D array antennas and Fourier Focusing methods. These two dimensional SAR Techniques can produce high resolution two-dimensional (and in some cases three-dimensional) imagery of the targets. The quality of the imagery is determined by the size of the resolution cell and the shape of the SAR antenna. A resolution cell is specified by range and azimuth resolutions of the system. Other factors affecting the size of the resolution cells are: (1) Range; (2) Wavelength; (3) Number elements and element spacing; and (4) size of the antenna. The antenna type and other user parameters can be chosen by the user based on the situation. For example, mapping gross features of cities and coastlines does not require as much resolution when compared to resolving smaller targets, such as vehicles, and streets.; This software program developed in this thesis will, among other things, help to provide greater understanding of the relation between two-dimensional antenna array parameters and image resolution.
