黑奴女孩的追求自由之旅—科尔森·怀特黑德《地下铁道》的叙事学解读

摘要

《地下铁道》是美国非裔作家科尔森·怀特黑德的第六部小说。小说自2016年出版以来，不仅受到了广泛的关注和极高的赞誉，还获得了2016年美国国家图书奖和2017年普利策小说奖。怀特黑德在《地下铁道》中通过讲述黑奴少女科拉的逃亡故事，运用丰富的叙事策略和独特的语言表达，再现了美国奴隶制的黑暗，重建了历史，并体现了当代知识分子对自由、人权平等的反思。　　本论文采用热奈特的叙事理论，从叙事时间、聚焦和叙事话语三个方面分析《地下铁道》的叙事技巧、人物形象及不同视角下呈现的故事和隐藏在故事背后的历史，揭示科拉追求自由的艰难历程和奴隶制对个人乃至整个黑奴群体带来的苦难。首先，论文以叙事时间为着眼点，从时序、时距、频率探究怀特黑德如何通过时间倒错、时间断层来描述种植园中黑奴的生活和科拉逃跑途中的遭遇，指出黑奴所遭受的苦难以及科拉追求自由的坚定决心和执着精神。其次，论文以叙事视角的转换为切入点，从零聚焦、外聚焦和内聚焦探讨不同人物视角凸现的重大事件，再现奴隶制度的罪恶。最后，论文以叙事话语的多变着手，从转述话语、间接转述话语和戏剧式转述话语剖析不同人物的心理，揭露奴隶制对人性的践踏和对人类造成的创伤。　　《地下铁道》堪称叙事技巧的典范，因此对这部小说中作者运用的叙事技巧的研究有助于对故事内容和小说主题的把握。奴隶制虽然已经成为历史，但是奴隶制之于现代社会的潜在影响却远未消失。从这个意义上讲，《地下铁道》对奴隶制的批判，对自由、平等的宣扬具有重要意义。
