摘要

The Israeli-Palestine conflict is one of the longest ongoing conflicts.Despite efforts from the international community since the beginning,there seem to be no sign of reconciliation or improvement.The simple reason can be said to be land dispute,however the conflict has escalated beyond the borders as decades of unresolved conflict has lead to millions displaced and millions living in fear and hatred.The narratives of both sides have become more and more negative as Israel is viewed to blatantly violate human rights,a colonizer and terrorist occupier by the Palestinians.Yet the argument of double standard and anti-Semitism are often used by the Israelis who claim that the world demonizes her every act while ignoring or excusing much worse actions by her counterpart who seeks to kill and destroy her every chance they get.The need to transcend the identities from negative to positive interdependence identity is a necessity for any possible peace in addition the bias historical accounts taught to young children in schools to recognize the unique existence of one another in the land.This study takes the combination of Lederach's understanding of conflict transformation theory,Galtung's Conflict Triangle and Kelman's analysis on narratives in relation to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict to understand the root of the issue and how it has transformed beyond land and territorial dispute.The solution for the conflict is not as simple as land for peace,one state solution or two state solution but creative actions and planning of the governments,religious leaders,grassroots,NGOs and the international community working together towards a common goal from different angles.This thesis by no means can offer a definite solution to the intricate,complex problem but is an analysis of the conflict and to make suggestions of possible approaches to the conflict that might be able to add value to the peace building process.
