隐性双语文本中的语码转换研究——以谭恩美英文小说《接骨师之女》为例

摘要

在长久以来海外华人使用英语创作的各类形式的文学作品中，“双语言双文化”的特征尤为显著。这些作品在异质文化的独特背景下，使用不同语言对另一民族的人文和历史等进行表述，以这一语言进行艺术编码并实现文本的产生。在本文中，这样的文学作品被认为是一种“隐性”的双语文本，即表面上看来是英文写作，却在词汇和句法等方面存在大量的汉语因素。因此这种文本的写作过程是一个不停在进行语码转换的过程。
　　 语码指用于交际的任何符号系统，可以是一种语言，也可以是一种方言、变体、语体、语域或语素。语码转换，即在同一次语言交际中从使用一种语码转换到另一种的现象。书面语语码转换也值得研究。本文以语言变异理论为基础，拟在Poplack的语言接触和语码转换理论的框架内，对华裔美国作家谭恩美的英文小说《接骨师之女》中所涉及的语言异质成分，即隐性双语文本中的语码转换现象进行分析。
　　 Poplack是从语言结构方面出发研究语码转换的先行者。她对语码转换以及一些相关概念的定义在语言学界影响很大。基于变异理论的语言接触理论，她提出了以语码转换为核心的语言接触理论。由于书面文本中语码转换研究缺乏现有理论基础，本文尝试在Poplack的语言变异和语言接触理论的框架内，通过从文学作品搜集来的真实语料，进一步验证该理论的正确性和适用性。
　　 本文首先考察了语码转换者，即小说作者的双语能力、语言态度、对读者的预期及创作动机等。然后通过细读文本，发现隐性双语文本的特点，将语码定义并归类。最后，引用大量例子对文本中的语码转换现象进行具体分析，发现Poplack的附加语转换、名词短语转换、标记性转换及等同限定等理论对本研究是适用的，然而对于没有理论支持的书面语语码转换研究来说，还有许多尚待扩充和完善的地方。
　　 本文希望能为书面文本语码转换研究构建做出先行试探性研究，拓宽语码转换的研究视野，提供实例，以丰富、发展和完善普通社会语言学。
