萨拉·奥恩·朱厄特的《尖尖的枞树之乡》中的新英格兰地方色彩研究

摘要

萨拉·奥恩·朱厄特(1849-1909)是19世纪下半叶美国著名的女作家。在美国文学界，朱厄特被公认为最具影响力的新英格兰地方色彩作家。这源自于她不仅善于描述新英格兰地区的生活，也因她的作品细腻而生动地描绘了新英格兰缅因州沿海小镇的风土人情。在其作品《尖尖的枞树之乡》(1896)中，朱厄特不仅向读者展示了具有新英格兰特色的真实而又多彩的海滨小镇生活，并向读者巧妙地传达了地方色彩作品的文学意义。
　　地方色彩文学出现在19世纪60年代末和70年代初，盛行于19世纪晚期。这种文学作品着眼于描述一个地区所具有的独特特色，即该地区独有的风景、人物、语言等特色。国内学术界对美国地方色彩文学的研究主要集中在对新英格兰以外地区的乡土作家及其作品的研究。本文拟通过对朱厄特的作品《尖尖的枞树之乡》的研究，剖析新英格兰地方色彩的内容和特征。该项研究的目的是弥补国内学者对新英格兰地方色彩研究的不足，希冀人们对美国地方色彩文学有一个全面的了解。
